It’s always tough to say goodbye to the senior leaders in any sport, and to say that the upperclassmen leaders of this past season’s Pella Christian baseball team will be missed would be an understatement.
A senior-laden Pella Christian boys soccer team is off to a solid start to the season and preparing for their first competition in the Little Hawkeye Conference when they host Knoxville on Thursday. In an interview featured on this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page, seniors Grant DeNooy, Jon Lensing and Will VandeVoort talked with KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall about the potential for this year’s team, what they’ve enjoyed so far and what one of them proposes be changed about the Junior/Senior Banquet at Pella Christian.

After being outplayed much of the first half and struggling to stop the run, Pella Christian fought back late and scored the winning touchdown on a 74 yard catch and run by Will Vandevoort with just over four minutes to play and held on to beat Roland Story 18-12 to advance to the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
