A pair of zoning ordinances were approved at this week’s Pella City Council meeting.
Finance Director Corey Goodenow says design standards for new homes along Washington and Main Streets in Pella have been approved.
“The city has had Dutch residential standards before and they’ve always been what we call the CBD or Central Business District,” he says. “What we’re doing [in the gateway corridors] is expanding for new single family homes to incorporate the Dutch-style residential standards.”
He also says the city council is more clearly defining residential zoning types to help guide developers.
“What this third reading did was approve some new definitions for housing sizes,” Goodenow tells KNIA/KRLS. The new residential definitions include single family attached, single family detached, and townhouses.
