A $2 billion dollar extension was approved by the Senate Thursday in the “Cash for Clunkers” program, and is expected to be quickly approved by the President. Steve Bunch, sales manager at DeVore Motors in Knoxville, says the program has been good for the industry and was amazed at how fast the first $1 billion in rebates was gone.
Brant Ver Meer, a sales associate at Vannoy Chevrolet in Montezuma, hopes the program’s success can be maintained with the additional money designated. “Cash for Clunkers”
provides large rebates for consumers trading in used cars for new, more fuel-efficient vehicles.
