The first “Book Bash” of the school year will take place Saturday morning at both the Pella and Knoxville Public Libraries. The book featured is If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff, and the event will feature a variety of activities based on the book for young children and their parents.

175 copies of the book will be given away between the two libraries to those who arrive early with a child between 0 and 5 years old. Children will also have the chance to get their picture taken with the pig from the story.

The event is sponsored by the Early Literacy Mentoring Association, and is meant to promote reading to children at a young age. The fall “Book Bash” is Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Knoxville Public Library, and 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Pella Public Library.
