The Pella football team hopes to get back on track tonight and stay in the post season hunt in Class 3A District 6 when they travel to South Tama. Pella will have receiver Josh Pringle back tonight after he missed last week due to an illness, however they will be without two starters Andy Vanderbroek and Richie Bales. Coach Jay Mckinstrey says they’ve had a great week of practice and feels confident the guys stepping into those positions are very capable of doing the job. He says South Tama may be 0-6 but they are a good football team and Pella needs to take care of business and play four strong quarters. “ They are a good football team and have several good players, we’ve seen it on film, especially their two middle linebackers…As we found out two weeks ago at Carlisle we can’t afford to let teams like this hang around cuz you never know what will happen at the end of the game, so we need to come out, play Pella football and take care of business early and get them doubting themselves”

Pella is 3-3 on the season and 1-3 in the district and can still earn a playoff position if they win their final three games and Mckinstrey says the kids haven’t given up one bit and will be fired up to play well. You can hear tonight’s game streamed live on kniakrls.com with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema starting with the pre game at 7pm and kickoff at 7:30pm from Tama. There will also be a delayed broadcast of the game at 11pm on 92.1 FM KRLS following the Radio Iowa scoreboard show.
