The National Weather Service in Des Moines recently released the first Spring Flood Outlook of 2010. Among the waterways included in the report are the Cedar Creek at Bussey and the South Skunk River at Oskaloosa. The probability of the Cedar Creek reaching flood stage this spring are near normal, which includes an 11 percent chance of minor flooding. The South Skunk River, meanwhile is 38 percent more likely to reach flood stage than in normal years, including a 50 percent chance of minor flooding, a 27 percent probability of moderate flooding and a 4 percent chance of major flooding this spring.
