Despite not scoring or attempting a single shot in the fourth quarter the Pella girls were able to hold on and defeat Norwalk in a strange game last night 34-30 to end LHC play. Pella jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter holding Norwalk scoreless for the first 7:40 as they built up a 14-2 lead after one quarter. Norwalk fought back outscoring the Lady Dutch 16-13 in the second quarter and Pella held a 27-18 lead at halftime. The second half was a much different story as Pella scored a total of seven points and for the first time all season were held scoreless for an entire quarter in the fourth and didn’t even attempt a shot due to turnovers and long Norwalk posessions but held on to win. Coach Jarod Garland said it was a crazy game that they were fortunate to win. Makenzie VanderMolen led Pella with 14 points as they improved to 14-3 on the season and finish Little Hawkeye Conference play in second place at 12-2. Pella travels to Williamsburg today for their final regualr season game then starts post season play hosting Saydel on Wednesday.
