New rankings have been released on the heath of Iowans, placing Marion County in the top third statewide in the majority of categories. County Health Rankings, an organization who aims to mobilize action toward community heath released its ranking report this morning. In six out of eight categories, Marion County was ranked in the top third, with the worst ranking still in the top 50%. The highest ranking was in the Health Factors category, which is what defined as what influences the health of the county, where we were ranked as number fifteen. The weakest category for the county is health behaviors, which includes measures such as substance use and diet and exercise, where Marion County placed 43rd.
