With the Conference Title already secured, the Central College men’s basketball team ended an outstanding regular season with an exclamation point, as the Dutch dropped Cornell 74-64.
As is tradition with the final home game of the regular season, it was Senior Day for the Dutch, and the veteran bunch did not disappoint, led by a 26-point, 8-rebound performance by Miguel Ley. Ley now ranks second on Central’s all-time scoring list with 1,508 career points.
Fellow seniors Zach Cooper and Mark Holan also posted strong afternoons, with Cooper picking up his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Holan added 11 points.
The victory over the Rams also marked at least two milestones for the Central men. The Dutch went 11-0 at home this season, and their 21-4 regular season record matches the highest total in school history.
Central now goes into the Iowa Conference with the #1 seed and a first round bye. The Dutch will play at home on Thursday against the winner of #5 Cornell and #4 Dubuque.
