The Knoxville School Board received an update on the Iowa Core Curriculum at their meeting this week. Director of Curriculum, Jill Van Woerkom provided the board with information in regards to developing a plan to implement the curriculum. Woerkom said members teachers and administration across the district have attended various workshops in the past 2 years that dealt with different aspects of the curriculum. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says the school needs to have the implementation plan submitted to the state by June 1st. Flack says he believes the process has resulted in some top quality discussion with district staff about what is important to be included in the curriculum in order to give Knoxville students the best education possible.
