Going into the season opener last night, the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad had a ton of questions to answer. While not everything was figured out, a good start on solving the riddles to unlocking what this team can do may have been discovered as The Panthers stifled Albia and had just enough offense to win 39-28. Knoxville fell behind early two/nothing but them responded with a 17-0 run that carried nearly into halftime. With many players on the court for the first time in a varsity setting, Coach Jim Utiermarkt said for the most part those players did some good things. Ellie Hawkshead led the Panthers with a career high 16 points. Knoxville forced Albia into 22 turnovers, and bad shots as the Lady Dees missed point blank shots throughout the game. Knoxville is 1-0 on the season and will travel to P-C-M tomorrow night.
