The Pleasantville boys basketball team grabbed its first win of the season Friday night in Leon knocking off the Cardinals of Central Decatur by a 67-46 score. The Trojans jumped out to a nine to two lead in the first few minutes only to see the Cardinals take a four point lead into the locker room at 29-25. Coach Tom Wilkins and the Trojans used the break to make adjustments for the second half as they outscored the Cardinals 22-7 in the third period to take back the lead and control of the game. The second half belonged to the Trojans as Hunter Van Haalan and Jake Burgett got hot offensively to join the tandem of Bobby Beier and Collin Thomas who had been leading the way for the Trojans through the first half. Beier ended with a game high 19 points, Thomas finished the contest with 17, Van Haalan ended with 15 after playing through foul trouble and Burgett finished with 12, all of which came in the second half. With the win Pleasantville evens their overall record at 1-1 and stands at 1-0 in the Pride of Iowa Conference as they play host to Wayne Community on Tuesday.
