The Department of Veterans Affairs held an industry forum Friday to discuss the initial draft of a Request for Proposals that was recently posted in regards to a potential Enhanced Use Lease of the Knoxville VA campus. Several developers, contractors, veterans, concerned citizens and representative from Congressman Leonard Boswell’s office and the State Historic Preservation Office were in attendance. VA officials stated that the final RFP will be posted early next week based on what was learned at this morning’s forum. Their hope is that competing developers will collaborate together to form a stronger proposal. A VA spokesperson stated that the final plans for the campus will have to be approved by the City of Knoxville before they can begin and they hope the EUL can be executed by October of 2011.
