With overnight temperatures forecasted in the single digits this week, and some rain and snow possible it’s important to make sure you’re fully prepared before traveling this winter. Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat recommends having an emergency kit in your vehicle in case of an accident or becoming stranded. He says the kit should include items such as water, ready to eat and non-perishable food such as candy bars, blankets and extra clothing. Other helpful items include an ice scraper, flashlight, jumper cables, cat litter or sand for tire traction and a first aid kit. Supplies should be placed in an easy to access location in the vehicle.
