It was a defensive battle for more than a half but in the end the number two ranked Blue Devils of Martensdale-St. Mary’s knocked off Pleasantville in a Pride of Iowa Conference battle Friday night by a 47-24 score. Pleasantville jumped out to an 8-5 lead early and used good interior defense to slow down 6″4′ Division I prospect Mackenzie Morrison on the interior. The Trojans trailed just 15-13 at the half and tied the game at 17 early in the third quarter before the Blue Devils put together a 14-2 run to build a double digit lead behind a breakout 14 second half points by Morrison. Konner Gordon, Pleasantville’s leading scorer at 15 points per game on the season was held without a field goal in the contest and had just four points. Jordan Vande Kamp led the Trojans with six points. With the loss Pleasantville now stands at 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Pride of Iowa Conference.
