The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has released its third high school girls basketball rankings of the season, with one Marion County team holding its spot in the top five. The Pella girls hold steady at the fifth spot this week as the No. 1 through No. 8 spots stayed the same from last week, with Ballard holding on to the pole position. The Lady Dutch opened the season against the Bombers, falling by nine points.
Other top-ranked teams this week include Stanton in Class 1-A, OA-BCIG (Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove) in Class 2-A, and Des Moines East in Class 4-A.
A trio of nearby girls squads remain in the top 15 in Class 1-A, though, led by North Mahaska – who holds down the No. 3 slot again this week. Lynnville-Sully is up three spots back to No. 8 again, while Montezuma’s girls squad debuts at No. 15.
