Ten years ago, Nic Turner was a defensive standout for the Central College football team, now he’s living out his dream. The former free safety joined the Marines after graduating from Central College, and is now a Captain and a member of the elite HMX-1 Squadron, which is responsible for direct helicopter support for the White House. One of his duties with HMX-1 is to help pilot Marine One, the helicopter that transports President Barrack Obama. Turner joined HMX-1 in October of 2009 after an intense selection process. The HMX-1 squadron includes 80 pilots and 800 Marines overall, four times more than any other Marine squadron.
