Pella Journalism instructor Ann Visser recently received the Carl Towley award at the National Journalism Education Association Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. The Carl Towley award is only given to one person in the country each year who serve both the Journalism Education Association and scholastic journalism. At the Pella School Board meeting on Monday, Visser showed her award to the board and announced that she would put it on display at the school. Visser said that it was a great experience and she was very happy she won the award but it wasn’t something that she was willing to take all of the credit for. She adds that it takes a great support system, good parents and good kids among others things to make something like this happen. The Towley award is the most prestigious award given to a member of the JEA.
