The depth and tempo of the Pella Lady Dutch proved to be more than Newton could handle as Pella racked up a 62-35 win in girls basketball last night. Pella would outscore the Cardinals 53-24 in the first three periods as wave after wave of fresh players simply wore out Newton.
Pella’s Kelsey Fynaardt was a force to be reckoned with on the offensive glass, as she translated a number of rebounds into second-chance points to lead Pella with 14. Guard Makenzie Vander Molen also hit double figures, scoring 12. The Lady Dutch carry a 4-1 record into the Christmas break and are out to a 3-0 start in conference play.
