Central College junior pentathlete Ethan Miller has been named the Iowa Conference male athlete of the week and senior pentathlete Jill Ziskovsky was tabbed as the field athlete of the week for women’s indoor track and field.
Miller, also earned field athlete of the week honors last week. He posted the highest NCAA Division III pentathlon score of the season while shattered the school record with 3,876 points at the Darren Young Classic indoor track and field meet at Grinnell College Friday. Ethan will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships March 11-12 in Columbus, Ohio.
Miller placed first in the 55-meter hurdles (7.87 seconds), first in the long jump (23 feet, 6.25 inches), third in the shot put (39-0.25), first in the high jump (a career-best 6-8.25) and fourth in the 1,000-meters (2:54.92).
Ziskovsky topped the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the women’s pentathlon at Grinnell Friday. She had a personal best 3,276 points, which ranks fourth in school history.
Ziskovsky placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.09 seconds), fourth in the high jump (4-11.75), third in the shot put (30-1), first in the long jump (17-3.5) and first in the 800 (2:24.05).
