In just under two weeks, Marion County voters will be asked to weigh in on whether or not to continue a one cent local option sales tax. Pella Mayor Darrel Dobernecker says that in Pella, residents have enjoyed many benefits from the tax since it went into effect in 2002. He says projects such as updating the aquatic center, downtown parking expansion, new storm sirens and multi-use trails to Lake Red Rock were all made possible with the supplemental income generated from the tax. The matter will come before voters on March 1st, and the Mayor encourages all voters to make it to the polls and let their voice be heard.
