In the final home matches of the season, the Central College men’s tennis team picked up two Iowa Conference wins, beating Loras College 7-2 before defeating the Univ. of Dubuque 7-2.
Seth Harris won twice at No. 2 singles for Central. He also teamed with Dan Bowser for two wins at No. 1 doubles.
Joining Harris with two singles victories were teammates Kyle Freischlag, Jacob Dreyer and Zane Hendricks, who won at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively.
Central won two of three doubles matches in the morning against Loras before taking five of six singles matches.
The Dutch swept doubles in the afternoon against Dubuque, including a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles by Dreyer and Bryn Boswell. Central won four of six singles. The No. 2 and 3 singles matches went to tiebreakers, which the two teams split.
The Dutch improve to 6-11 this spring, winning four of their last five matches. The victories move Central into fifth place in the league.
Loras falls to 1-10 while Dubuque drops to 8-12.
Central’s next match is on the road. The Dutch take on Simpson College at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Indianola. Central closes the regular season against Buena Vista Univ. in Storm Lake next Saturday.
