Sammy Swindell claimed his third straight Front Row Challenge title in front of a full house at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa Monday night. Swindell was strong all night qualifying second in time trials behind quick timer Brad Sweet…he came from sixth to win his heat…won the king of the hill beating Fred Rahmer, Cody Darrah and Brad Sweet to claim the pole, then refused the offer to start from the rear and led all 25 laps to claim the $10,000 prize. Sweet who was set to start outside row one also refused the chance to go to the back and finished second. Last week’s 360 Nationals champion Shane Stewart charged from tenth to finish third, Sam Hafertepe Jr. was fourth and Donny Schatz came from 13th to finish fifth after blowing a motor in his heat and finishing third in the B-Main. Dale Blaney finished sixth followed by Jonathan Allard, Mark Dobmeier, Kraig Kinser and Fred Rahmer completed the top ten. Action resumes tonight in Oskaloosa as the wings come off for the USAC Non-Wing Ultimate Challenge. The infield party area gates open at three and grandstand gates open at five with hot laps scheduled to start around 6:45. Bud Kaeding is the defending champion of the race and is scheduled to be in the field tonight. In realted racing news, Swindell had taken a commanding lead in the Jesse Hocket Mr. Sprint Car race as Swindell has accumulated 179 points to second place Daryn Pittman’s, and Tim Shaffer’s 149 points with Shane Stewart in fourth with 146 points.
