A new survey from the U.S. Department of Agriculture says that the average cropland rental rate in Marion County is $179/acre, up from $160 in 2010. That’s lower than the statewide average of $196, which is up $20 from 2010. Cropland rental rates were lowest in the south-central and southeastern part of the state, and highest in the north-central part. Hamilton County had the highest average, at $235/acre. The lowest average is in Monroe County, at $136.
