The Knoxville Cross Country Squad hosts its own invitational this afternoon at Pine Knolls Country Club. Both the Panther boys and girls teams have given a good account of themselves recently, highlighted by a third-place finish for the boys at PCM last week.
Coach Mike Moats says neither team has put together the total package yet, and the Panther Invitational would be a great meet to do that…
The first races – which will be the junior high races – are scheduled to get underway at around four this afternoon. The cross country teams from Pella High and Pella Christian are looking forward to today’s Knoxville Invitational.
Pella Christian head coach Jocelyn Meinders says her squads should be well rested after the weekend, and says she’s hoping to have at least her top runners on the girls and boys teams earn a medal.
Doug Cutler, Pella High’s coach, says his team always enjoys the challenge of going up against Knoxville’s teams, and says it will be a real benefit for his athletes to have a preview of the same course that they’ll run in a just a few weeks for the District meet.
The Knoxville Invitational will also include local runners from PCM and Twin Cedars High Schools, along with a number of other regional teams, and begins this afternoon at the Pine Knolls Country Club in Knoxville.
