The basketball season at Pella Christian High School is well under way, but there’s another sport that’s really rolling this winter – bowling. Popularity in the bowling program has exploded this year, as 52 students – 22 girls and 30 boys – are participating in the sport this season.
Rod Blunck, who is in his seventh season as the coach at Pella Christian, says there’s a lot more to practice than just grabbing a ball and hurling it down the lane. Blunck says the team has been working on alignments, scoring, and lane etiquette, among other areas.
The Eagles compete against four other schools in the Little Hawkeye Conference: Knoxville, Newton, Norwalk and Oskaloosa – who just added the program this year. Their first competition is this Saturday at Fairlane Bowl in Knoxville.
