The Pleasantville Trojans, for the first time in the season, got swept at home against Nodaway Valley last night in high school basketball. The Pleasantville girls were held to only seven points after one quarter, and would only score seven more points in the second frame to face a 27-to-14 deficit at the half.
Paige Jones and Sara Kerber were a dynamic duo for the Wolverines scoring a combined 29 points. Kennedy Core would lead Pleasantville with 12 points, but would unfortunately not be enough, as the Trojans fell to Nodaway Valley 60-31 and now slide to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the Pride of Iowa Conference play.
On the boys side of play Pleasantville had similar results. The Trojans were held to just five points in the first quarter and also just scored seven more points in the second quarter. TJ Bower for Nodaway Valley scored 23 points along with 3 other players scoring ten points. The final score would be 69-46 in favor of the Wolverines. Nodaway Valley is now in 1st place in the Pride of Iowa Conference with Pleasantville a very close second and the Trojans fall to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
The Pleasantville Trojans face 3 games next week, starting with Albia at home on Monday.
