The legislative session in Iowa gets underway on Monday. This will be Republican Senator Paul McKinley’s last year in the Iowa Senate. McKinley tells KNIA/KRLS News that being this is an election year, he expects to see a lot of positioning. He notes that this is underway already, as Democratic leadership is pushing a traditional GOP message of lower taxes and less spending. He expects some the big issues in this year’s session to be reforming rules on property taxes and education reform. On Friday, Governor Terry Branstad unveiled a $25 million dollar education reform plan.
