Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney narrowly edged out former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum by just eight votes in the first in the nation Iowa Caucuses Tuesday evening. The result wasn’t finalized until the early-morning hours. Both candidates gathered about 25% of the GOP caucus vote. Mitt Romney collected 30,015 votes in the state. Rick Santorum received 30,007. Texas Congressman Ron Paul came in third with 21%. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was fourth with 13%. Texas Governor Rick Perry had 10% to finish fifth, and Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann received 5%, finishing sixth.
