The Melcher-Dallas boys basketball team is trying to take advantage of a few days of practice, following a full slate of games last week. As the Saints prepare for their next contest, one of the areas of emphasis continues to be on their defense, as head coach Jim Wells said his young team needs to be more fundamentally sound.
“Defensively, we’ve got to just keep moving our feet and boxing out – making sure we only give our opponents one shot when they’re on their offensive attack,” says Wells. “Sometimes we have a little mental breakdown on that, and give them two or three shots at the basket. It’s something we’ve worked on every day in practice, so hopefully we’re getting better at it.”
The Melcher-Dallas boys basketball team tries to rebound from a loss to Mormon Trail when they take on Southeast Warren on Saturday in non-conference play. The Saints are 3-12 on the season.
