The Knoxville elementary schools have been adding new technology to the classroom since 2012 began. Every classroom is now equipped with a SMART board. A SMART board is a whiteboard that is connected to a computer. The board uses sensor technology and essentially works as a giant touchpad computer. Northstar principal John Keitges told the school board Monday that teachers are learning more every day about how to use the technology to interact with students. He adds that since they’ve been installed, he’s noticing more engagement and excitement in the classroom.
