The Iowa Department of Public Health is continuing to warn people about the dangers of the norovirus illness that has seen increasing outbreaks across the state. Norovirus presents itself much like the flu. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and cramps. Marion County Public Health Manager Kim Dorn tells KNIA/KRLS News that hand gels will not kill norovirus. She says you need to use soap and water. If you feel sick, Dorn says you should not be preparing food. Norovirus symptoms are quick-moving, usually lasting 24-to-48 hours. Norovirus is very contagious, spreading quickly in crowded areas.
