Turnovers and giving up 13 offensive rebounds in the first half put the Knoxville boys basketball squad in a hole that they would never dig out of in a 58-32 loss to Grinnell in the first round of the class 3A District last night. Two keys that Knoxville had to do well in were not turning that ball over against Grinnell’s full court press and not allow the Tigers offensive rebounds. While the Grinnell press never really bothered the Panthers it was turnovers on the offensive end of the floor and the 13 offensive rebounds for Grinnell that did in Knoxville. Coach Jeff Larson said those two things were the bane of his team. The Panthers did come out in the second half and outscore Grinnell 18-15 in fact 14-0 in the fourth quarter with both teams’ J-V units on the court. Garrett Davis led Knoxville with ten points on the night. Knoxville closes out its season at 1-21.
