Mid-American Energy spokesperson Tina Potthoff says that the large solar flares had no impact on their services on yesterday morning. Potthoff tells KNIA/KRLS News that they continuously monitor all sorts of weather events, including solar flares, to ensure that any impact to their customers is minimized.

She says the continuously review their emergency response processes to ensure effective deployment in the case of unusual events such as this. Potthoff adds that the solar activity that occurred last month also had no impact on their power grids, and they are confident in their electrical system’s ability to respond in this type of event.
