In Class B, Pella Christian’s boys took fifth with 66 points. Notable performances for the Eagles include dual golds for Derek Van Kooten in the High Jump and Long Jump, along with a silver medal from Caleb Fredrickson in the 100 Meter Dash, among others.
Jessica Holterhaus earned individual golds in the Long Jump and 200 Meter Dash, and a silver on the Sprint Medley Relay team to help lead the Pella High girls track and field squad to a first place team finish at Saturday’s Oskaloosa Invitational. Behind seven first-place finishers, the Lady Dutch tallied 178 points; 28 in front of the host Indians. Lydia Van Ee also turned in a notable day, finishing first in the 400 Hurdles, running on the winning Shuttle Hurdle Relay team and running a leg of the second-place 4×400 Meter Relay team.
Pella Christian’s 4×100 Meter Relay team of Sarah Faber, Leah Breon, Kate Van Gilst and Jasmin Schelhaas blazed their way to a winning time of 51.11 and set a new meet record at the Oskaloosa Invitational on their way to a fourth place finish in the team standings with 92 points. Three of those runners – along with Jenna Fynaardt – also ran on the winning Sprint Medley Relay team, and Sarah Faber finished second in the long jump to highlight the day for the Lady Eagles.
