It may have been her only hit of the night, but incoming freshman Jessica Anderson delivered the key hit in Melcher-Dallas’s thrilling 12-inning 1-0 win Tuesday night against Moulton-Udell.
Anderson reached first on a rip to right field, then advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt. That set up Lexi Crozier’s game-winning single to send Anderson home and close out the marathon contest.
Crozier got the win in the pitching circle, going the distance and allowing six hits and striking out eleven Moulton-Udell batters. Crozier got stronger as the game wore on, allowing just one hit over the final eight innings. The Saints are home again tonight to host Lamoni.
