The drought is affecting livestock just as its affecting crops. Byron Leu is a Cattle Production Specialist with Iowa State Extension who will be in Pella this week at Friday’s crop insurance meeting. He says cattle producers are having trouble feeding their livestock because the grass has gone dormant during the drought. Leu says that CRP Acres opening for grazing will help producers, but only those who can afford paying to use that land, or have neighbors willing to help them out will benefit. The crop insurance meeting is at 1pm in Pella Christian High School.
