Knoxville Mayor pro temp Elsie Kemp met with the Henry Knox chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution yesterday to proclaim next week as Constitution Week. President Dwight D. Eisenhower first recognized the week in 1956. In 2002, President George W. Bush officially designated the week to be from September 17 to September 23rd. According to the Daughters of the American Revolution, the purpose of the week is to promote the study and education about the constitution.
