Pella Christian clicked on all cylinders on their way to a 43-20 win over Des Moines Christian Friday night. The Eagles built up a 30-7 halftime lead, scoring on impressive drives of 51, 73, 92 and 68 yards; plus added a 23-yard field goal from sophomore Jacob Brouwer. The halftime break didn’t slow them down any as they scored on drives of 63 and 55 yards in the third quarter, extending their lead to 43-7 before the Lions added a couple late scores.
The Eagles racked up 525 total yards – including a punishing 478 on the ground – paced by Caleb Morgan and Michael Mason. Morgan carried 21 times for 212 yards and two touchdowns, while Mason tallied 191 yards to go along with four touchdowns. The Pella Christian defense was impressive as well, holding a strong rushing Lions team to just 47 ground yards in the first half and allowed just seven points before the starters exited the game late.
Pella Christian has scored 40 or more points in three of their four games this season, and have outscored their opponents 162-59. The Eagles improved to 4-0 and 2-0 in Class 1A District 7 and will stay home to host Sigourney-Keota in a non-district game next Friday.
