Steve Francis has won a lot of races in his storied late model career. He’s won the World 100, and many other premier late model events across the country, but last night he may have snatched his biggest win of his career by leading the final 29 laps and winning his first Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals last night at the Knoxville Raceway. Francis stayed in or near the top five for most of the race watching watched runner-up Brady Smith dominate and lead the 100 lap race for 64 circuits before pouncing after a restart. There were five leaders and six lead changes during the race which was slowed six times for yellow. Smith would finish second, Brian Birkhofer was the third with Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Owens fourth and fifth respectively.
