
A Knoxville home was destroyed this morning after suffering two fires in 12 hours.. The fire originally occurred just after 5pm yesterday in the kitchen of the home at 1813 McKay Drive. It was put out, but another fire started at 5am this morning. Fire crews raced to put it out. The couldn’t save the home, but did save a neighboring home to the north from flames that were approaching.
The house is now a total loss. Knoxville City Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Rural Fire, Indiana Township Fire, Pleasantville Fire, Marion County Emergency Management and the Knoxville Police Department all responded to the scene. Interim Fire Chief Greg Higginbotham says its unclear how this morning’s fire started and that it remains under investigation.
