Winter is coming, just in time for Christmas. Marion County is under a Winter Storm Watch beginning tomorrow afternoon and continuing through Thursday afternoon. Right now, projections are calling an afternoon rain/snow mix. That’s expected to be followed by between four and seven inches of snow and strong winds in the overnight hours.

County Engineer Roger Schletzbaum asks residents to evaluate their travel needs for Wednesday evening into Thursday. He says the snow and wind could cause significant drifting, creating conditions that render travel on county roads to be difficult and dangerous. Those type of conditions mean it would also take road crews several hours and multiple shifts to completely clear the road. If you have an appointment that can be postponed or rescheduled, such as a doctor or dentist appointment, Schletzbaum asks that you consider doing so.
