The PCM girls’ basketball team is back at .500 after a tough road trip Tuesday night to North Polk. The Mustangs struggled to contain the Murphy twins, Megan and Miranda, who combined for 29 points as the Comets coasted to an easy 57-34 victory over the PCM. Forwards Abbi Gilson and Kelsey Townsend led the offensive output with nine points apiece, while Lexi Kain added 8 points off the bench. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak and leaves the PCM girls 5-5 with just one more game before holiday break. The PCM boys fared much better on the road trip, coming away with a convincing 59-47 victory over North Polk. The Mustangs balanced attack was led by Ethan Kain who tallied 12 points, but the MVP had to be senior center Alex DeWitte, who had 11 points and several key rebounds defensively. Even with the victory improving PCM to 9-0, coach Fred Lorenson is not taking the next few ball games lightly. Friday night will be the last game before the holiday break for both PCM squads, as Saydel travels to Monroe for a boys/girls doubleheader.
