A local farmer presented two $2,500 checks to Marion County Schools yesterday afternoon. Pella resident Mark Van Wyngarden entered into a Monsanto Fund program called Grow Communities, which gives winners the chance to donate $2,500 to a non-profit of their choice. Van Wyngarden presented two of these checks, one to Pella Christian High School, and one to Creation Station Preschool. He was able to present two checks, because as part of the program, farmers in counties declared a drought disaster area received double the donation.
