Artist in residence Ed Schmid will be featured at Mills Gallery this month. Schmid is a glass blower, who has written multiple books detailing the practice. Schmid has been interested in glass since he took it as an elective in college while studying for a degree in German. He has since made it his career. His work has focused on hands recently, and he has a series with each symbol of the sign language alphabet. He will take part in an artist reception at the gallery Wednesday at 5pm.
