The way the Pella High girls’ soccer team has played as of late, no one would fault you for calling it a “no-doubter” that the Lady Dutch would defeat Newton on Monday night, 3 – 0, to advance to the Class 2A State Tournament later this week. Bri Schroder tallied her 90th and 91st career goals, as she has constantly been rewriting the school record books this season. Katie Canfield also netted a goal late in the second half to put the game out of reach of the Cardinals. Allie DeMeulenaere also picked up an assist on one of Schroder’s goals for the Lady Dutch, who now possess a record of 17 – 1 on the season and are headed to the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines this Thursday. Pella does have a tough task ahead of them in the first round, as they will be in a rematch with future conference opponent, Dallas Center-Grimes at 3:15 p.m. Pella beat the Fillies 2 – 1 in a sudden-victory, penalty kick shootout just two weeks ago.
