KNIA/KRLS continues profiling local museums as part of Iowa Museum Week. Janet Ritchie, with the Marion County Historical Society, says that they have a special Civil War display this summer to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the war. The display includes lots of artifacts, memorabilia, clothing, and records of local soldiers that fought in the war.
Ritchie adds there is a period-era cabin that’s been refurbished, the depot, and the country store. She says they’ve even refurbished the wheels on their popcorn wagon from 1917 and hope to fix the roof soon. The Marion County Historical Village is open from 1-to-5pm Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day.
