Falling behind early the first quarter and never fully able to recover, the Pella High boys’ basketball team saw their season come to an abrupt and ugly end at the hands of Grinnell last night, 65 – 41. Pella got off to an 8 – 3 lead, and wouldn’t lead again until a Noah Clayberg free throw put them up 22 – 21 in the second period. The Tigers then used a 22 – 2 run in the third and fourth quarter to put the game out of reach for the Little Dutch. One thing that did the Dutch in was rebounding, a facet of the game that they led Class 3A in all season. Coach Mark Core says Grinnell was just dominant. Jordan Pingel led Pella’s offensive attack with 12 points. They finish the season 19 – 4 overall and lose six seniors off of this year’s squad.
