Two teams from considerably different conferences meet-up in the Class 1A substate final tonight in Indianola. Pleasantville and Lamoni have a vastly different strength of schedule; the Trojans come from a tough Pride of Iowa Conference that featured seven teams at or above .500, including Nodaway Valley (who is also in their own substate game against East Mills) and Martensdale – St. Mary’s, the team Pleasantville beat to get to where they are this evening. Lamoni has defeated all 24 of their opponents by an average of nearly 36 points per game. However, the Demons played in a considerably weaker Bluegrass Conference for a majority of those games. The closest contest Lamoni was involved in was a ten point victory over Ankeny Christian Academy. Pleasantville does match up well with the number three ranked team in the state, says Coach Tom Wilkins. You can hear the state tournament play-in game tonight live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA with Kris Krug calling the action. Our pregame coverage will start at 6:45 p.m. with tip-off at seven.
