A little more than a month from today, the Knoxville Raceway will roar to life for another Championship Cup Season. Preparations are already underway for the 2014 racing season that will involve sprint cars, modifieds, late models and more. General Manager Brian Stickel says the 410 Sprint Car class could be one of the most competitive in the track’s history. The usual characters like Terry McCarl, Davey Heskin, defending champion Bronson Maeschen, and Craig Dollansky, who is coming off the World of Outlaws to run for points at the Raceway, have announced plans to run this season. Stickel tells KNIA/KRLS Sports many drivers will stop in for a test and tune night throughout the season to get ready for the Knoxville Nationals in August. He says the Knoxville Raceway is like a proving ground for sprint car drivers. Practice night is April 12th with opening night scheduled for the following week on the 19th. The World of Outlaws make their only visit before the Nationals on June 14th, the 24th Annual 360 Nationals are July 31st-August 2nd with the 54th Annual Knoxville Nationals August 6th-9th.
